FC Barcelona Visited The Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem as part of a a two-day 'peace tour'. Thousands celebrated the arrival of FC Barcelona in the West Bank this weekend where the legendary Lionel Messi and his teammates visited the birthplace of Jesus in Bethlehem. The team stopped to take pictures near the fourteen pointed star that marks the birthplace of Jesus. The visit to the Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem was scheduled right upon arrival and was an exciting event for both the people of Bethlehem and the team.

President Barack Obama visits The Church of Nativity

Obama, during his short stay in the area, insisted on visiting the Church of the Nativity in order to light candlesand pray. 

President Obama and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas chatted at the church, which was built above the grotto where Jesus was born.

During the tour, Obama stopped twice to light candles for his family and himself: first at the Church of Nativity grotto, Jesus’ birthplace, then at the adjacent Catholic Church of St. Catherine.

1. UNESCO names the Church of Nativity as a World Heritage site

Church of the Nativity

On January 2012 UNESCO's World Heritage committee approved the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem for its list of sites of World Heritage in Danger.

The Church of the Nativity is the recognized birthplace of Jesus Christ.  It was placed on the list as it was suffering from damages due to water leaks in its roof.

Campbell toured the biblical town of Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem where Christians believe Jesus was born.  Campbell also visited the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem, the holiest place where Jews can pray, a retaining wall of the compound where the Jewish biblical temples stood 2,000 years ago.
